Paediatric first aid
As you may be aware the Department for Education has not further extended Paediatric first aid certificates after 16 June 2020 unless there is no access to training. This can then be extended till 30 Sep 2020.
Further to this the Health and Safety Executive has issued further guidance on how first aid training is to be conducted.
As a trainer the health and safety of trainees is paramount, to compliment the HSE's guidance CJB Health and Safety have also taken the following steps:
When laying out mannequins there is to be 2m separation at all times.
Class sizes are to be kept to a minimum, CJB Health and Safety have decided that there is to be no more than six students at a time.
Each student will be issued a mannequin face which is theirs to use when conducting resuscitation, pocket masks are also made available for rescue breaths and baby mannequin.
Mannequin lungs are changed prior to a new course starting.
Mannequins are to be cleaned after every touch using alcohol wipes and hands are to be cleaned and hand sanitizer used. Gloves will also be provided.
Face coverings are to be worn unless outdoors.
Contact will be minimised by trainees applying bandages to self and placing themselves in the recovery position.
CJB Health and Safety understand that not maintaining the correct levels of First Aid cover may be stressful, please let us help you. Our staff are highly qualified and all first aid instructors have at least a level 3 in training and education. We also offer a blended learning option which has been extremely successful during the COVID pandemic.
